Diesel runaway is a condition where the engine runs non stop at very high rpm and won’t stop even when you try to turn the ignition off.
This happens when the engine starts taking diesel vapour from other sources and shuts off the diesel flow. This simply means the car is solely running on Diesel vapour
The situation is a potential death threat or cause of fire outbreak, we hope you never experienced it.
Whereas Diesel run away is extremely dangerous and scary, it can be stopped but only before it’s too late.
Every engine will need air for combustion. Quickly block the air inlets . Kindly note that using a piece of cloth will only have it sucked in ! Turbos leaking oil are also know to cause Diesel run away . So have your turbo in good service!
Engaging a high gear and letting go the clutch works in manual but not assured. Spraying your fire extinguisher in the air inlet will stop the run away but kill the engine. Guess it’s better to have your engine dead then your entire car on fire
