Kenyans found themselves burdened by the weight of loans and the ever-increasing cost of living have reminisced about the days when the beloved late President, Jomo Kenyatta fought for their freedom.
Little did they know that they would one day long for a different kind of freedom.
As the years passed, Kenya had grown and developed, but so had its debts. Government took loans from various international institutions to fund infrastructure projects, improve education, and provide better healthcare. However, the repayment demands is becoming a heavy burden on the citizens’ shoulders.
Citizens are currently questioning the choices made by leaders. They are currently wondering should the late President, in his wisdom, should have left them in the mystical land of Misri (Egypt), where their ancestors had once sought refuge during times of drought and famine. In their imagination, Misri represented a place of abundance and prosperity, free from the struggles of debt and corruption.
The burden of loans isn’t the only issue weighing heavily in the minds of Kenyans. Corruption has become a cancer that infected the highest echelons of government. News headlines is currently filled with stories of embezzlement, bribery, and the misuse of public funds. The people have grew tired of seeing their hard-earned money disappear into the pockets of politicians and government officials.
Determined to bring about change, the citizens have chose to rallied together. Have chose to organized peaceful protests and demanded transparency and accountability from leaders. Social media platforms buzzed with discussions and debates, as Kenyans used their collective voice to demand a better future.
The movement have gained momentum as more and more people joined the cause. The youth, in particular, played a vital role in galvanizing the nation. They used their technological savvy to expose corruption and spread awareness of the mounting debt crisis. Through online campaigns and grassroots initiatives, they have united the nation under a common goal: to break free from the chains of financial burden and corrupt governance.
Now citizens loud voice and courts petitions has remain high as they wait for government to review the burdening loans and better lives in a different way.
