KMPDU Announce Peaceful Picketing tomorrow April 16 ask Bungei for Security

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has declared a peaceful procession scheduled for tomorrow from morning 9 am.

The doctors have formally requested security from the Nairobi Police Commander, Adamson Bungei, for the event.

The matching route is planned to go from Kenyatta National Hospital to the Ministry of Health, then to the Council of Governors, and finally to the Treasury.

KMPDU heads announcement comes in the wake of recent warnings from Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, who cautioned the striking doctors against disrupting normal activities in hospitals and across the country.

IG Japhet Koome had instructed police commanders to deal with the striking medics “firmly and decisively in accordance with the law”

The ongoing doctors’ strike has now entered its fifth week, with the government maintaining its stance on not offering additional salaries for doctors, while interns are slated to receive a monthly stipend of Sh70,000.

KMPDU, on the other hand, is advocating for interns to be granted a monthly stipend of Kes. 206,000.
