11 Suspects Arrested in Kitale During DCI Operation on Undocumented Foreigners

In a continued crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals entering the country for unclear reasons, detectives have arrested 11 male suspects in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County.

The operation, led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operation Support Unit (OSU), was intelligence-driven and aimed at intercepting illegal immigrants.

The suspects, who were on their way to Nairobi’s Eastleigh area from Uganda, were traveling in a Toyota Hiace van with the registration number KCF 860E.

Among those arrested were three Kenyan nationals, while the other eight were foreign nationals from Somalia and Uganda. The group was apprehended after a pursuit by the authorities.

Despite attempts by the vehicle’s driver to evade capture, he eventually pulled over and surrendered. This led to the arrest of all 11 individuals, who are now being held at Tarakwa Police Station for further investigation.

The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) has since taken over the interrogation of the suspects. Authorities are working to uncover the purpose of their journey into the country, as there is a possibility that some of the foreigners might be victims of human trafficking.
