Anti-Narcotics Detectives Arrest Polish Drug Trafficker with Kes3.2 million worth of heroin at JKIA

Anti-Narcotics detectives based at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have arrested a Polish national for attempting to traffic Kes3.2 million worth of heroin.

The suspect, Arkadiusz Stanislaw, 37, was arrested at JKIA’s Terminal 1C moments before boarding a Hungary-bound Egyptian airline. The heroin was found stashed in his luggage.

Stanislaw is said to have been destined for Hungary’s capital, Budapest. He is currently being held in police cells awaiting further processing and arraignment in court.

This is the latest in a series of arrests made by anti-narcotics authorities in recent months. In July, police arrested a Kenyan woman who was found with Kes10 million worth of cocaine at JKIA.

In August, they arrested a Nigerian national who was found with Kes6 million worth of heroin at the airport.

The Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, Ms Margaret Karanja, has warned that all those caught up in the drug trafficking trade will be treated with the severity of the law.

She said that the government of Kenya is committed to stemming the flow of illegal drugs into the country.
It is a clear message that the authorities are determined to crack down on the illicit trade from within our borders.
