Kenya President, Dr. William Ruto, held a productive meeting with Pepsi’s CEO for Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, Eugene Willemsen today at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The primary focus of their discussion revolved around strategies aimed at enhancing farming practices in Kenya and scaling up agricultural production.
One of the pivotal ideas explored during their meeting was the potential to bring an additional three million acres of arable land into cultivation in Kenya. This move is anticipated to significantly bolster the nation’s agricultural sector and contribute to its food security.
The meeting underscored the crucial role of collaboration between the government and the private sector in propelling agricultural development in Kenya.
Such partnerships are vital for ensuring a sustainable and reliable source of food for the country’s citizens. This strategic collaboration between President Ruto and Eugene Willemsen highlights their commitment to fostering a prosperous and food-secure future for Kenya.
According to World Bank 2021 reports, Kenya arable land is 10.19%. Government have been making strategic commitments to expand the arable area to at least 30% so that it meets food security and larger agricultural adjustment.
