Detectives investigating a gruesome murder that shocked Nairobi have made significant progress. The discovery of a severely mutilated body, abandoned at Langata Cemetery on October 31, 2024, has brought attention to Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the prime suspect in the case and other murders of shocking brutality.
Hashim Muhumed had previously been connected to the murders of a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece, cases that are still fresh in the minds of many.
The investigation began with the recovery of important clues from the crime scene. Following up on these leads, detectives traced a connection to a woman who was captured on CCTV cameras while shopping at a Quickmart supermarket in Nairobi on October 29, 2024.
Based on footage, this woman completed her shopping and then traveled to an apartment complex in the upscale Lavington area. She was seen on CCTV footage entering the apartment building.
Detectives now believe that the woman was accompanied by Muhumed, who was living in the same apartment.
Sleuths have determined that the two (Hashim & Deka) spent some time together at the location. In a chilling turn of events, CCTV footage from October 31 shows Hashim leaving the apartment with two bags.
Investigators suspect these bags contained the dismembered remains of the victim, which were later dumped at Langata Cemetery, an area that has, in recent years, become infamous for similar grim discoveries.
After Hashim Muhumed left the apartment, the owner reportedly returned to find evidence of the horrific crime then cleaned up the apartment, had the rooms repainted, and subsequently vanished.
DCI are currently searching for landlord, who is believed hold critical information about the murder. They believe his arrest is imminent and that he will soon face justice for his role, however indirect, in this disturbing incident.
Detectives have also found potential links between the body discovered at the cemetery and a woman named Deka Abdinoor Gorone, who was reported missing on October 24, 2024, at California Police Station. However, forensic analysis is still underway to confirm the identity of the victim.
The case has once again cast a spotlight on Hashim Dagane Muhumed, raising serious questions about his involvement in a series of brutal killings that have left the community shaken. Authorities continue to investigate whether he acted alone or if others were involved in these heinous crimes.
