Just in, the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) has suspended its Director General, Ezra Chiloba. The suspension was communicated through an internal memo by the board chair, Mary Mungai, after a board meeting held on Monday.
As a result of Chiloba’s suspension, Christopher Wambua has been appointed as the Acting Director General. Mary Mungai stated, “Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice. I trust that you will accord him the necessary support.”
Ezra Chiloba’s suspension comes two years after his initial appointment to the position. He had taken over from Francis Wangusi after Wangusi’s retirement in 2021. According to Chiloba’s appointment letter, he was meant to serve in the role for a renewable period of four years.
