40 days was over, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters have successfully intercepted a notorious gang in Kisii County, recovering a Browning pistol and thwarting a planned robbery.
Acting on intelligence, DCI officers positioned themselves near Ogembo market after receiving information about three criminals planning to rob an M-Pesa shop.
The suspects, traveling on a red motorbike with license plate KMGK 292Z, were caught off guard by the officers’ presence.
Upon spotting the officers, the gang opened fire and attempted to flee. The quick-thinking detectives returned fire, managing to fatally wound one of the suspects.
In a dramatic turn of events, the other two criminals evaded capture by plunging into a nearby river.
A search of the incapacitated gang member yielded a Browning pistol with a defaced serial number and one round of live ammunition.
DCI officials have launched a manhunt for the two escaped suspects, who are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.
The operation marks a crucial step in addressing the growing concern of armed gangs terrorizing the public in Ogembo market and surrounding areas.
The DCI reaffirms its commitment to ensuring public safety and urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
As the investigation continues, residents of Kisii County can expect an increased police presence in the area.
The DCI encourages anyone with information about the escaped suspects to come forward and assist in their capture.
