DCI Strikes, 739 Bags of Subsidized Fertilizer destined to other Country Intercepted 3 Arrested

In response to many reported cases of theft of government-subsidized fertilizer from National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depots, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operations Support Unit (OSU) has taken decisive action smuggling out perpetrators in the theft.

Detectives recent operation have yielded significant results, as they intercepted and recovered a total of 739 bags of assorted brands of fertilizer. The value of the intercepted government fertilizer is estimated at Sh1,847,500.

The operation, which took place at Baraka shop cereal store within Matisi market along the Kitale-Endebess road, led to the apprehension of three suspects: Ali Abdi Fatah, Abdi Jabar Hussein, and Bonface Ouma Awili.

The trio were allegedly involved in the illicit trafficking of the subsidized fertilizer out of the country.

Among the brands of fertilizer recovered in the operation were 424 bags of Falcon CAN, 43 bags of Tupande, 98 bags of Mavuno, 71 bags of KEL Green NPK, 20 bags of NPSB-OCP, four bags of DAP-OCP, 26 bags of FOMI OTESHA, 34 bags of Simba Urea, 16 bags of FALCON Ammonia Sulphate, and one bag of NAFAKA Plus, all weighing 50kg each.

Furthermore, the DCI detectives seized delivery notes from various NCPB depots, including Kitale, Malaba, Moi’s Bridge, Isiolo, and Maua. These delivery notes are currently undergoing authentication, suggesting a potential link between the stolen fertilizer and multiple depots across the country.
