The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully moved to seize assets worth Kes.614 million from former Nairobi County Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Mutuku Kiamba and his wife.
This follows successful litigation at the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
The seized assets include seven prime properties located in Runda, Dennis Pritt Road, and South C in Nairobi, with an estimated market value of over Kes.500 million. Additionally, Kes.113,893,743 held in various bank accounts belonging to Kiamba, his wife, and associates will also be forfeited.
The courts concurred with the EACC’s assertion that these assets constitute unexplained wealth and proceeds of corruption from the Nairobi County Government.
Consequently, the courts ordered that all assets be forfeited to the Government of Kenya.
This landmark ruling marks a significant victory in the fight against corruption and reinforces the EACC’s mandate to recover illicit wealth acquired through corrupt practices.
