Eldoret City Court Sentences KFS Sergeant for Education Papers Forgery

In the courtroom – An Eldoret court has sentenced Godfrey Maundu Nzilu, a Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Sergeant, Godfrey to pay a fine of Ksh 500,000 or face five years in prison. Godfrey Nzilu was found guilty of uttering false documents and forgery.

The sentencing was delivered by Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Peter Areri, who convicted Godfrey on four counts of uttering false documents, in violation of Section 353 of the Penal Code, and one count of forgery, under Section 349 of the Penal Code.

Godfrey Nzilu’s crimes involved presenting a forged Diploma certificate from the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) to his employer, the Kenya Forest Service.

In addition, Godfrey submitted fake Bachelor’s and Diploma certificates in Criminology and Forensic Studies to Moi University for authentication, claiming he had attended courses at these institutions when he had not.

The prosecution, led by Mr. David Fedha and Ms. Patricia Kirui, successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. They presented sixteen witnesses and thirty-three exhibits, which ultimately led to Godfrey Nzilu’s conviction.
