Investigate, detectives from DCI Starehe, supported by a specialized team from the DCI Nairobi regional command, have apprehended five armed and dangerous thugs responsible for the cold-blooded murder of a 37-year-old woman. The arrest operation, that has been active, also resulted in the recovery of a firearm.
The victim, identified as Beatrice Okumu, was tragically killed on the night of June 26. Shortly after closing her M-Pesa shop at around 10pm, she was confronted by three assailants riding a motorbike. These criminals forcibly searched her handbag for money and valuables before callously shooting her.
Beatrice succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a gruesome crime scene soaked in blood. Two spent cartridges of 9mm caliber were recovered by diligent detectives at the site.
The arrested suspects, Kevin Oduor alias Mande, John Chege alias Samir alias Chei, Leroy Omondi alias Leon Mutahi alias Issa, and Clifford Bogonko, have also been linked to a string of robberies reported across various parts of the city over the past two months. Their apprehension took place in Kayole area 3, where the police seized a white motorcycle with the registration number KMFH 073G, believed to have been used as their getaway vehicle.
Currently held in custody, the suspects are actively assisting detectives in their ongoing investigation. They will soon face charges in court for their heinous crimes, ensuring that justice is served for the victim, Beatrice Okumu, and all those affected by the series of robberies in the city.
