July 4, 2023 – In a move that is set to impact millions of subscribers, DStv has once again increased its prices due to the weakening of the Kenyan Shilling. Effective immediately, customers across various subscription packages will experience a rise in their monthly fees.

DStv Access subscribers will now have to pay Sh1,300, an increase of Sh50 from the previous charge of Sh1,250. Similarly, DStv Family subscribers will see a rise of Sh100, as their monthly fees jump from Sh1,750 to Sh1,850.

The price hike continues for DStv Compact subscribers, who will now have to shell out Sh3,500 instead of the previous Sh3,300. Finally, DStv Premium subscribers will have to allocate Sh9,900 per month, up by Sh400 from the previous Sh9,500.

This price adjustment comes as a result of the weakening of the Kenyan Shilling against dollar, which has impacted various sectors of the economy, including the broadcasting industry. DStv, like many other service providers, has found it necessary to pass on the cost burden to its customers to maintain operations and provide quality services.

The news of the price increase has sparked concerns among subscribers, who are already grappling with economic challenges brought about by the weakening currency. Some customers have expressed disappointment and frustration, citing the need for affordable entertainment options during these difficult times.

As subscribers evaluate their options, some have consider exploring alternative platforms, others have chose to evaluate their television subscription choices to manage their entertainment expenses effectively. Others may opt to continue with DStv, weighing the benefits of their preferred subscription package against the increased cost.

The recent price hike by DStv is reminder of the ongoing economic challenges faced by businesses and consumers is due to currency fluctuations. As the situation evolves, subscribers and service providers alike will continue to adapt to the changing economic landscape while seeking a balance between quality services and affordability.
