The Board of KFS is confident that Mr. Lemarkoko will be an excellent Chief Conservator of Forests and that’s why the Board of Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has officially appointed Mr. Alex Lemarkoko as the Chief Conservator of Forests, effective from 2nd August 2023. His appointment comes after a successful interview process conducted by the KFS Board on 31st July 2023.
Mr. Lemarkoko’s journey to this position has been marked by impressive achievements, including serving in the KFS Headquarters Forest Protection and Security function and rising to the position of Commandant in charge of Protection and Security due to his exemplary performance.
Mr. Lemarkoko’s passion and expertise in forestry are evident through his educational qualifications, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Moi University and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Nairobi (UON). He has also graduated from the National Defence College, Kenya, and participated in numerous short courses that have enriched his knowledge. With vast experience representing KFS in various local and international Forestry Forums, Mr. Lemarkoko is well-equipped to address the challenges faced by the forestry sector.
In the same token, Mr. Lemarkoko plays a crucial role in Africa’s Cross-Border Timber Trade and Forest Management Forum and is an esteemed member of the Forestry Society of Kenya. His appointment as Chief Conservator of Forests is expected to bring new perspectives and innovations to the conservation efforts in Kenya, and his dedication to the cause promises a brighter future for the country’s forests.
