National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) inspectors, accompanied by Police and an officer from Occupational Safety and Health Services, measured noise and vibrations at Mustech Concrete, a cabro making factory at Makuyu, Muranga County. The officers also took records of the noise levels of the surrounding environment.

After complains from residents about the premise making excessive noise and vibrations. NEMA said the results of the exercise will inform the Government next course of action.

NEMA is mandated to ensure that all activities in the country are conducted in an environmentally sound manner. The Authority has the power to issue orders, directives and penalties to those who violate environmental laws.

In recent years, NEMA has been cracking down on polluters, including factories, businesses and individuals. The Authority has also been working to raise awareness about environmental issues and to encourage Kenyans to take action to protect the environment.

The investigation into Mustech Concrete is ongoing. It is not yet clear what action NEMA will take against the factory. However, the Authority’s actions send a clear message that it will not tolerate environmental pollution.

Environmental pollution is a serious problem that can have a negative impact on human health and the environment. NEMA’s said they’re committed to protecting the environment and ensuring that Kenyans have a clean and healthy place to live.
