Police in Kakamega Arrested Jackson Mwangi for Robbery with Violence, Cache of Weapons found at his hideouts

Kakamega North police officers have arrested a man behind violent robberies, following a detailed operation that uncovered a large cache of weapons and tools believed to be used in criminal activities.

The criminal, identified as Jackson Mwangi Wangechi, 38 years old, was apprehended after officers conducted a coordinated raid on 3 of his known hideouts.

The operation, led by the National Police Service (NPS) began with a surprise ambush at Season’s Club in Malava township.

Officers intercepted Mwangi at the club and then proceeded to search his residence, where they discovered a range of items believed to be used in robberies.

The items included military gear, a pistol imitation, magazines loaded with rubber bullets, machetes, and various keys—some of which appeared to be specialized for breaking locks. Additionally, officers found several mobile phones suspected to be stolen.

From Jackson’s first location, the team expanded their search to two more of his hideouts within the same area. At one location, officers uncovered more weapons and tools, including a panga (a large knife), a sword, keys and handcuff. The officers also search a Mazda Demio, registration number KDL 013B, belonging to the suspect, where they recovered further evidence connected to criminal activities.

Mwangi is currently in police custody as investigators continues their inquiries to determine the extent of his involvement in robberies and any possible connections to other criminal networks. Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious any activity to assist in curbing crime in Kenya.
