Judiciary meets Executive at State House, Nairobi; President William Ruto and Chief Justice Martha Koome engage in discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing tensions between the Judiciary and the Executive.

Prompted by the Judicial Service Commission’s request on January 15th, the President welcomed the initiative on January 16th, emphasizing the need for dialogue between leaders of the executive, judiciary, and legislature.

President Ruto states, “The meeting should be between the executive led by Ruto, judiciary led by Martha Koome, and legislature led by Speakers. I am ready for the conversation on how we are going to deal with vested interests, incompetence, and corruption.”

Key figures attending the meeting include National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Attorney General Justine Muturi, and Solicitor Shadrak Mose.

The Chief Justice expresses the Judiciary’s readiness to address concerns raised by the President, who previously accused the Judiciary of corruption, asserting that corrupt judges undermine his government manifesto.
