Tragedy struck in Migori this morning at around 9 am when a tipper truck lost control and rammed into a group of Bodaboda operators at a stage. The incident has claimed the lives of six people, and several others are nursing injuries.
Eyewitnesses say that the tipper was descending a steep hill and lost control, veering off the road and plowing into the crowd of Bodaboda operators who were waiting at the stage. The impact was so severe that the victims were thrown several meters away, causing instant fatalities.
Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and transported the injured to nearby hospitals. However, the extent of their injuries is yet to be confirmed.
The police have cordoned off the area and are conducting investigations into the cause of the accident.
The incident has left the residents of Migori in shock, and they are calling on the authorities to ensure that such accidents are prevented in the future. They are also appealing for County Government to support the families of the victims, who are now mourning the loss of their loved ones.
