Suspects involved in the brutal murder of DCI detective David Mayaka arrested

Development stories, one of the primary suspects involved in the brutal murder of DCI detective David Mayaka has been apprehended following a meticulous operation executed by the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau based at the DCI Nairobi regional command. The suspect, Alex Wanjiru, 23, had managed to evade authorities by seeking refuge at his grandmother’s residence in Ruthingiti, Kiambu County, after fleeing from Kayole where the crime occurred.

The breakthrough in the investigation came after detectives managed to impound the motorbike utilized by the criminals during the heinous act. This red Boxer, with the registration number KMGJ 350V, was subjected to extensive forensic analysis, which conclusively linked the suspect and his associates to the crime scene at the precise time of the murder.

Further progress in the case was achieved through the diligent efforts of ballistic experts from the DCI National Forensic Lab, who successfully established a connection between the firearm responsible for the fatal shot (a C2) and five prior robbery incidents within the city.

Detectives have also successfully identified the other two individuals implicated in this shocking crime. The main perpetrator, Henry Njihia, who discharged the fatal shots that claimed Detective Mayaka’s life, and John Kamau, also known as Faruk, who was armed with a Glock pistol, are currently under investigation and being closely monitored.

The tragic incident occurred on August 8, around 10pm, as Detective Mayaka and his wife Kemunto were ambushed by the gang while changing a flat tire. The heart-wrenching episode was captured by nearby CCTV cameras.

Efforts to bring justice to Detective Mayaka’s untimely demise are ongoing, and authorities remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice against all involved parties.
