The deceased have been identified as Robert Keter (35, father), Faith Keter (24, mother), Brian Keter (5, son), and Cherotich Keter (3, daughter).
According to Isaac Omare, the Narok South Sub-County Police Commander, the family was sleeping in their house when the mudslide struck, claiming their lives.
Omare warned that the area is prone to such disasters and urged residents living in low-lying, steep areas to relocate to safer grounds.

He advised residents of Chepalungu, Torokiat, Pampanik, Oloishusho, and Enakishomi to exercise caution and remain vigilant during this rainy season.
Police are currently in the process of recovering the bodies from the muddy ground.
