Two individuals have been charged with the theft of gaming equipment from a shop owned by Anthony Mwendwa Kinoti, the son of the former Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti.
The accused, Luis Borura Nyawira Otieno and Stephen Wafula Okoni, allegedly orchestrated a break-in at the shop situated on Biashara Street in Nairobi’s bustling Central Business District.
The incident, which took place on April 1, 2024, involved the theft of property valued at Ksh.1.26 million.
Among the stolen items were nine PlayStation 5 consoles, two PlayStation 4 consoles, twenty PlayStation controllers, and thirty-five gaming discs.
Despite the charges and the value of the stolen goods, both Otieno and Okoni have entered a plea of not guilty. The case has garnered significant attention due to the high-profile nature of the shop’s owner and the brazenness of the crime.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation, and the court proceedings are being closely monitored by the public and media alike.
The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for the security measures employed by businesses in the area.
