In an interview with Citizen TV Kenya, Faith Kipyegon revealed that Ethiopian runner Gudaf Tsegay apologized for the incident that occurred during the 5000m race at the Paris Olympics.
Tsegay approached Faith after the second 1500m race and expressed regret for pushing her during the 5000m race, which initially led to Faith Kipyegon’s disqualification.
Following an appeal by Kenya sports officials, the Olympic Board reinstated Faith, who ultimately finished second in the race. Beatrice Chebet, another Kenyan runner, claimed the gold medal in the 5000m event.
Kipyegon, who is celebrated for being the only woman to win the 1500m race three times consecutively, expressed her happiness for Chebet’s gold medal win.
Upon returning to Kenya from the Paris Olympics, Beatrice Chebet a police officer was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
