Kenya Will Be Ready to Co-Host AFCON 2027, Says President Ruto

Kenya is gearing up to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in 2027, President William Ruto announced. He expressed confidence in the country’s readiness, highlighting that work on three key stadiums is progressing well.

President Ruto revealed that renovations at Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums are on track, while construction of the new Talanta Sports City Stadium is making good progress.

“The government is committed to ensuring that Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums will be ready by the end of this year for the African Nations Championships 2025,” he said. “The Talanta Sports City Stadium will be completed by December 2025, in time for AFCON 2027.”

The President met with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe at State House in Nairobi. Mr. Motsepe expressed his satisfaction with Kenya’s preparations for hosting the prestigious tournament.

Also present at the State House meeting were the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman, Nick Mwendwa, and the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Hon. Onesmus Murkomen, along with other state officials.
Their presence underscored the importance Kenya is placing on hosting AFCON successfully.
