Toyota Announces Driver Line-up for Safari Rally Kenya 2024

Rovanpera

Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveils its formidable driver lineup for the upcoming Safari Rally Kenya, slated to take place next month. Headlining the team is double world champion Kalle Rovanperä, poised to vie for a second African victory in three years.

Rovanperä, after an absence from the World Rally Championship season opener in Monte Carlo, returned to action on Rally Sweden.

However, his campaign was marred by misfortune as he crashed out while leading on Friday, ultimately finishing 39th overall.

Eager to redeem himself, Rovanperä will spearhead Toyota’s charge in Kenya alongside seasoned teammates Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta. The trio aims to uphold Toyota’s unparalleled success on one of the WRC’s most grueling events, where the Yaris has reigned supreme since the rally’s resume in 2021.

Despite his past triumphs, defending Safari Rally champion Sébastien Ogier will notably be absent from Toyota’s lineup. The eight-time world champion, having secured second place in the Monte Carlo Rally, will sit out his second consecutive event, as Toyota opts to field only three cars in Kenya 2024 March event.
