Deadline For SIM Card Re-registration in Kenya

Communication Authority (CA) extended SIM cards re-registration from April 15, 2022 to October 15, 2022 to give Network Companies and their customers humble time to re-register SIM cards.

Due to many reported cases from SIM cards swapping, fake online markets and cryptocurrencies fraud, CA in a pressure of huge network of fraudsters syndicates put 2015 SIM cards law into action.

All Network subscribers must re-register again, for Safaricom PLC Network, Airtel Network and Telkom Network all subscribers can either visit nearby Safaricom shop , Airtel shop and Telkom shop or go to nearby respective Mobile Money Agents with valid document (ID or Passport).

Also, self SIM card re-registration is available online, anyone within his/her comfort zone can re-register online via a confirmed Network Company website and App. For self registration, network provider send confirmation code to first registered SIM card and if there is complain that the first registered card isn’t the valid owner, the valid owner with valid documents must visit nearby network provider shop to register his/her number and deregister unknown numbers.

In the new CA law, SIM cards for M-Pesa agents, Airtel Money agents and T-Kash agents are traceable and if any subscriber register, re-register or swap SIM card in any agent network provider must put in record the details of the agent that offered services and the subscriber.
